About Omega Eta Epsilon

Omega Eta Epsilon (ΩHE) is the world's first professional Greek organization devoted to the fields of language, literacy, and culture. Our primary goal is to promote children's literacy and the advancement of higher learning in language-based disciplines. We are open to students of any major and minor, and of all genders.

Mission

The mission of Omega Eta Epsilon is to establish recognition and promote higher learning in linguistics and language-related disciplines, and to foster community and friendship among our members. This organization strives to uplift the necessity and importance of language and literacy in society, particularly in the area of children’s literacy.

History

Omega Eta Epsilon was founded in 2011 by two students, Juliene Sesar and Courtney Frost, who sought to fulfill a need for a language-based professional Greek organization. The Alpha chapter was established at the Stockton, CA campus of University of the Pacific. Since its founding, OHE has expanded to open membership to any student majoring, minoring, or interested in the pursuits of language and literacy.

As of 2017, the University of the Pacific chapter of Omega Eta Epsilon (currently the only chapter in existence) welcomes its twelfth class of initiates.
